David and Denise Glenn, Founders of Kardo Ministries

The Glenns, founders of Kardo and authors of the Kardo Bible study materials, began in 1981 when Denise taught young mothers a Bible study on marriage and parenting. After her pastor's request, she documented her insights, leading to the creation of the MotherWise ministry to women.

Nearly 20 years later, while working as a petroleum geophysicist, David created Bible studies for men, leading to the launch of FatherWise, a ministry for men similar to MotherWise for women. His job then took the Glenns to Jakarta, Indonesia, for two years, followed by four years in Perth, Australia.

While living abroad, the Glenns were inspired to teach Bible studies to international audiences in the native languages of the learners. This led to the creation of Kardo, a nonprofit ministry that translates and prints their Bible study materials, builds and trains small group leadership teams, and supports partners worldwide. Kardo now offers 11 Bible studies translated into 23 languages, including Korean, Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin.

David and Denise live in Houston, Texas, where they enjoy spending time with their growing family, are involved in their local church, and lead Kardo Ministries in 38 countries.

Why “Kardo?”

The word "Kardo" comes from the Greek "cardia," meaning "of the heart." In ancient Israel, the "cardo" was the city center where people gathered for worship, learning, and resources. At Kardo, we create similar spaces for worship and provide support for faith and family.

Our ministry reaches across the globe, offering resources in heart languages to help deepen faith, strengthen families, and spread the gospel. "Kardo" perfectly represents our mission.

Kardo Ministries has been called by God to reach a unique group of people: those who seek in-depth Bible study necessitating a total commitment to Christ, particularly in the realms of faith and family. Our mission is to deliver this message not only in English but also in the native languages of many nations. 

We aim to reach individuals around the globe with trusted biblical materials that are translated with the utmost care. Through the translation process, we ensure that we convey not just the words, but also make the necessary cultural adjustments for a complete understanding of biblical principles and their practical applications.  

Our materials are carefully edited by local and professional believers. We pilot these studies in Bible-believing churches under the guidance of pastors, re-editing them to incorporate any changes and additions before printing and distributing them through our own channels among local believers. 

This meticulous process can take several years to complete for a single translation. With our 21 current translations, Kardo Ministries has successfully shared the gospel message with thousands of homes worldwide.
